Entry requirements for the Higher National Diploma (HND)
         i.            Satisfy all the requirements for admission into the ND programmes as stated above.
       ii.            Possess a National Diploma in relevant course(s) from Delta State School of Marine Technology or from a recognized institution with a CGPA of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit).
     iii.            A letter of completion of compulsory industrial training from organizations/firms or evidence of one year work experience
     iv.            In exceptional cases, National Diploma with a Pass (2.00-2.49) in the ND may be accepted. Such candidates would undergo a one-year Pre-HND programmes to improve themselves.

The Courses have adequate professional and academic content to enhance manpower development, staff proficiency, capacity building; and they are designed to strengthen performance in the Ports Development/Operations, Ship Building Technology, Shipping , Offshore Oil and Gas, ICT sectors of the
economy . The programs are designed for middle and top management position.
Furthermore, the Center also runs professional courses at Advance Certificate Level. The courses are as follows:

General Admission Requirements
I. A Candidate for postgraduate studies in the University of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents,) NOTE: A CREDIT PASS IN MATHS AND ENGLISH IS REQUIRED.
II. Four credits at Ordinary level, plus OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB or Advance level passes or any other equivalent.
III. A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate programme of the University of Benin. In addition, all holders of 3rd class degree must possess PGD to be considered for admission into the Masters programmes.
IV. Candidates who obtained Master’s degree but with Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil. programme in the first instance.
V. A candidate applying for the Ph.D. in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a minimum weighted average score of 60% in the Master’s degree.
VI. A candidate applying for the PhD with a Master’s degree from any other University who in his/her Master’s study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall, on admission, be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60%.
VII. Only students who have the NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate can be allowed to clear into the different courses.
Transcripts Candidates should request for their transcript from their former institution by clicking on the link www.etx-ng.com/unibenpg to forward their academic transcript(s) to the “Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies”, to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication. Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed. Referees Reports Candidates should print out the referee forms provided in the application page fill and return to the directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Applications shall not be processed unless the referee reports are available.

  • Masters Degree (Academic and Professional)
The Master degree programme runs for a minimum period of 4 semesters and a maximum period of 6 semesters for full-time candidates; a minimum period of 6 semesters and a maximum period of 8 semesters for part-time candidates. All Master Degree Programmes are by coursework. The following may qualify for the Master Degree admission:
  • Graduates of Federal University Lokoja or other recognized institutions who have obtained the approved degree of Bachelor with at least second-class division or its equivalent or candidates with University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of Federal University Lokoja or other recognized institutions with at least a credit level pass.
(ii) Candidates with only Bachelor’s degree in Third Class division and a relevant Postgraduate
      Diploma
(iii) Candidates whose degrees are unclassified with average of “C” or 50% or above. Such candidates may be subjected to qualifying tests.
(iv) Candidates must possess five (5) relevant O’Level credits including English and Mathematics.
(v). NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate
 (vi). Candidates may be required to pass examination set by departments to which they are seeking admission to determine their suitability for postgraduate work.
(vii). Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.
  • Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)
The Master of Philosophy degree programme is available only to full-time candidates. It runs for a minimum period of two (2) semesters and a maximum period of four (4) semesters. Candidates in this category are eligible for conversion to Ph.D. To be eligible for conversion for the Ph.D. programme, candidates are expected to score not less than 4.00 CGPA at the end of the first session. The following may qualify for Master of Philosophy admission:
  • Graduates of Federal University Lokoja or other recognized institutions who have obtained a Master degree (Academic) with a CGPA of less than 3.0 on a 4-point scale or less than 4.0 on 5-point scale.
(ii) Holders of a Master degree (Academic) in a cognate discipline with a CGPA of 4 and above.
(iii) Candidates must possess five (5) relevant O’Level credits including English and Mathematics.
(iv) NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate
(v) Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The Ph.D. degree programme runs for a minimum period of sis (6) semesters and a maximum period of ten (10) semesters. Relevant courses will be taken for the Ph.D. full-time studies where prescribed and a Thesis is required at the end of the Ph.D. programme. The following may qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:
  • Graduates of Federal University Lokoja and other recognized institutions who have obtained good Master degree (Academic) with a CGPA of not less than 4.0 on a 5-point scale or 3.0 on a 4-point scale appropriate to the proposed area of study.
(ii) Graduates of Federal University Lokoja and other recognized institutions who have obtained Master of Philosophy degree appropriate to the proposed area of study.
(iii) In addition to (i) and (ii) above, candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Second Class lower division.
(iv) Candidates must possess five (5) relevant O’Level credits including English and Mathematics.
  • NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate
(vi) Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.

  • Login to the PG Portal with your created PG account email address

  • With the generated RRR, pay application fee of N10,000.00 using REMITA services (card or bank payment):

AFIT Post-UTME Screening 2018: Eligibility And Registration Details

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the National Diploma Full Time admissions into the following programmes in the 2018/2019 Academic Session.

AFIT Post-UTME Screening 2018: Eligibility And Registration Details Out
Candidates seeking admission into AFIT’s ND programmes are required to write JAMB UTME examination.
National Diploma (ND) Programme – Aircraft Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology and Explosive Ordnance Technology.
(1)       JAMB UTME cut-off pass mark and pass in AFIT’s post-JAMB UTME screening.
(2)       Minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with at least credit passes in 5 subjects in not more than 2 sittings. The subjects must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and one other subject from Additional Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Auto-Mechanics and Metal Work, Statistics, Geography and Biology.
National Diploma (ND) Programme – Business Administration and Management.
(1)       JAMB UTME cut-off pass mark and pass in AFIT’s post-JAMB UTME screening.
(2)       Candidates should possess a minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with 5 credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and 3 other subjects from Economics, Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Government, Statistics, Geography, Agricultural Science, and Biology.
Application Procedure
For a successful application, ND candidates are expected to complete two basic registration processes as stated and explained below:
Payment via e-Bills Pay.
Admission Screening Bio-Data Registration.
ND candidates should visit any branch of commercial banks and request for e-Bills Pay in respect of Air Force Institute of Technology ND programme and make payment of the sum of N3,100.00 plus the required bank charges. After payment, the bank teller will provide a printout of Session ID, which is required to proceed with online registration.
Having been assigned a Session ID by the bank, candidates should visit AFIT website (http://www.afit.edu.ng) and click on the ‘AFIT ND Admission Screening’ link. Insert the Session ID obtained from the bank, email, phone number, upload your passport and select the programme category applicable to you (National Diploma), click submit. After the display of “record inserted correctly” message, click “resume registration” to continue the application.
Having completed the steps above, candidates should enter their bio-information, SSCE/GCE/NECO results, JAMB score, etc. Thereafter candidates should upload their passport photographs which should not be more than 30KB in size. The size of such uploaded picture will be validated against this requirement. Therefore, candidates should ensure compliance.
After the successful upload of pictures, candidates should proceed to print their Photo Cards. The Photo Cards contain candidates’ basic identity information and would be required for participation in the post- JAMB UTME screening and for confirmation of application for admission into the Institute.
Post-UTME Screening
ND candidates who selected AFIT as first choice and scored above the Institute’s cut-off marks would be invited for post-UTME screening in AFIT, Kaduna. The cut-off marks for various programmes will be displayed on the institute’s website once decided. Details of the screening, which includes an examination, would be communicated to eligible candidates at the appropriate time via SMS.
Application Deadline
All applications for admission will close on Friday 15 August 2018. Successful candidates would be contacted via SMS and also published on the Institute’s website at the appropriate time. 3.0           ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
3.1           POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
The following may apply for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programmes:
3.1.1.       Graduates from approved Universities who hold first degree classification with FCGPA of 1.51 and above on a 5point scale.
3.1.2.       Candidates from approved Polytechnics or Monotechnics who hold a Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit.
3.2.          MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES
The following may apply for admission into Masters Programmes:
3.2.1        Graduates from approved Universities who hold the appropriate degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 3.00 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 60% for Universities that do not use FCGPA.
3.2.2        Holders of Postgraduate Diploma from recognized institutions with an FCGPA of 3.50 and above (on a 5 point scale).
3.3           DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES
Graduates from approved universities who hold Masters degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 70% for universities that do not use the FCGPA
  •    MINIMUM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for any Postgraduate programme must possess a minimum of 5 credits including English Language and any four relevant subjects at one or two sittings from WAEC, NECO,NABTEB or TCII(Faculty of Education only) based on the Departmental/Faculty and General University Requirements.

  • DURATION OF THE PROGRAMMES
4.1           Postgraduate Diploma Programme (PGD)
Full-Time Postgraduate Diploma programme: minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of three (3) semesters. Part- Time: minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters
Note: For the Faculty of Engineering Professional PGD: Full-Time: minimum of 4 Semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters. Part-Time: minimum of six (6) Semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters
4.2           Master Degree Programmes
Full-Time Masters Degree programmes : minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters. Part-time programme : minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters
4.3           Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme
Full-Time PhD programmes : minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters. Part-Time programme: minimum of eight (8) semesters and a maximum of fourteen (14) semesters
5.0           METHOD OF APPLICATION
5.1           Application form should be completed on-line by logging onto portal.unizik.edu.ng/postgraduate
  • Click on “Create Account” to Create a new account,
  • Fill the form and click on “Submit”
  • An email will be sent to your box and a page indicating the successful creation of your profile will be displayed. Click on “click here”. You will be directed to the log in page.
  • Enter your username and password and click on “sign in”.
  • Follow the instruction on the page following each step as indicated to access the application form.
  • Click on Step one on the menu bar on your left to generate and print the (Remita Retrieval Reference) Number for the ICT Fee (N1, 000).
  • Click on Step two on the menu bar on your left to generate and print the (Remita Retrieval Reference) Number for the Application Fee (N10, 000).
  • Take the RRR to any bank of your choice for payment of Application Fee and ICT Fee.
To confirm payment:
  • Click on step three. Type the RRR for the ICT Fee in the RRR textbox and click on “Confirm”. Again, type in the RRR for the Application fee in the RRR textbox and click on “Confirm”
  • Once the confirmation for the two payments is successful, you can proceed to step four to fill your application form
  • Click on step four. Fill and submit online the completed Application Form, scanning and attaching the claimed certificates, including O’level certificates.
5.2           Print the completed Application Form for your personal use. You will require this document in the course of the admission and registration.
5.3           Download and print a copy of the Transcript Request Form. The Transcript Request Form should be sent to your former Institution for your academic transcripts. Any change of name should be indicated in the transcript form.
5.4           Applicants should include the names, phone number and e-mail addresses of three Referees. At least two of the referees must be Academics not lower than the rank of Senior Lecturer.
5.5           Sale of Form Ends on 3rd August, 2018
Submission of Form Ends on 10th August, 2018
Transcripts should be forwarded to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies not later than 24th August, 2018
6.6           PhD applicants in submitting their forms, shall upload a proposal of not more than five type-written pages that should include:
  1. Topic (not more than 18 words)
  2. Brief background of the Study
  3. Aim and Objectives/Purpose
  4. Methodology
  5. Expected Outcomes
  6. References               .
6.7           Qualified Applicants will be invited for Screening Test and Proposal Defence (PhD only) from 27th August, 2018.
